CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

CONDITIONAL SENTENCES
TYPE 1
FUTURE CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

Digunakan untuk menyatakan sesuatu yang mungkin akan terjadi di waktu yang akan datang.

Examples :
1.     If I have a lot of money, I shall build a new hotel.
2.    If Anisa finishes her study, she will work at hotel.
3.    If they arrive in Jakarta, they will stay at our hotel.
4.    If my father gives me money, I shall buy a new dress.

Pattern :
IF + S + VI (es) + O + (adv) + S + will/shall + VI + O + (adv)

It means :
1.     a. It is possible for me to a lot of many and
b. It is possible for me to build a new hotel
2.    a. It is possible for Annisa to finish her study and
b. It is possible for her to work at hotel
3.    a. It is possible for them to arrive in Jakarta and
b. It is possible for them to stay at our hotel
4.    a. It is possible for my father to give me money and
b. It is Possible for me to buy a new dress

It means :
It is possible for ……… to VI ……… and


TYPE II
PRESENT CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

Digunakan untuk menyatakan sesuatu yang tidak terjadi seperti apa yang dinyatakan sekarang.
(Contary to the fact) = Bertentangan dengan fakta

Examples :
1.     I should visit you, if you called me today.
2.    They would stay at our hotel, If they arrived today.
3.    She should buy a new dress, If Lita had a lot of money.
4.    We should enjoy her party, If Jony Invited us.

Pattern A :
If + S + VII + (O), If + S VII + (O) + (adv)

Examples :
1.     I should visit you, If you called me today.
2.    They would stay at our hotel, iff they arrived today.
3.    She should buy a new dress, if Lita had a lot of money.
4.    We should enjoy her party, if Jony invited us.

It means (real fact) = maksudnya / fakta sebenarnya.
S + don’t / doesn’t + VI + O + so that + S + don’t / doesn’t + VI
Or
S + don’t / doesn’t  + VI + O + because + S + don’t / doesn’t + VI

Note :
·         So that digunakan apabila if berada di depan kalimat.
·         because digunakan apabila if berada di tengah kalimat.

Pattern A : If you called me today, I should visit you.
It means : you don’t call me today so that I don’t visit you
Pattern B : I should visit Lina, if she called me today.
It means : I don’t visit Lina because she doesn’t call me today.


TYPE III
PAST CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

Digunakan untuk menyatakan tidak terjadi sesuai dengan apa yang dinyatakan di waktu lampau = contaryu to the fact and past situation.

Examples :
1.     If you had finished your work last night, we should have gone to the cinema.
2.    If Fandy had reserved her ticket yesterday, she should have gone to Bali this morning.
3.    If they had booked their rooms before, they should have stayed in our hotel last night.

Pattern A :
If + S + had + VIII + O + (adv), S + should/would + have + VIII + O + (adv)
Posisi pola kalimat ini bisa dirubah tanpa merubah maksudnya.

Pattern B :
S + should/would + have + VIII + O + (adv), If + S + had + VIII + O + (adv)

Examples “
1.     We should have gone to the cinema, if you had finished your work last night.
2.    She should have  gone to Bali this morning, if Lita had reserved her ticket yesterday.
3.    They should have stayed in our hotel last night, if they had booked their rooms before.

It means/real fact : past situation and contrary to the fact
S + didn’t + VI + so that + S + didn’t + VI
Or
S + didn’t + VI + because + S + didn’t + VI

Examples :
1.     If you had finished your work last night, we should have gone to the cinema.
It means : you didn’t finish your work last night ao that we didn’t go to the cinema.
2.    If Lita had reserved her ticket three days ago, she should have got a flight to Denpasar yesterday.
It means :  Lita didn’t reserve her ticket three day ago so that she didn’t get a flight to Denpasar yesterday.
3.    They should have stayed in our hotel last night, if they had booked the rooms before.
It means : they didn’t stay in our hotel last night because they didn’t book the rooms before.
